Overview
Harmonize Discussions can either be graded or non-graded. In this article, we'll describe how to create a graded discussion in each of the 4 main Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Canvas
- Within your course, navigate to Assignments and click the + Assignment button
- Give the assignment a name and set the appropriate number of points
- In the Submission Type section, select External Tool as the type and click the Find button
- In the dialog that appears, find the option labeled Harmonize Assignment, select it and click the Select button
- Finally, either click the Save or Save & Publish button on the New Assignment page
Blackboard
The steps for adding a graded discussion in Blackboard are slightly different depending on which course view you are using.
Original Course View
- Within your course, navigate to Content, open the Build Content menu and select the Harmonize option
- In the Institution Tools section, find and select Harmonize
- In the resource selector that appears, click on the Discussion option and select Create New
- Enter a name for the discussion, select the Graded option, enter the appropriate number of points and click the Create Discussion button
Ultra Course View
- Within your course, click on the + button in Course Content and select the Content Market option
- In the Institution Tools section, find and select Harmonize
- In the resource selector that appears, click on the Discussion option and select Create New
- Enter a name for the discussion, select the Graded option, enter the appropriate number of points and click the Create Discussion button
Brightspace
The steps for adding a graded discussion in Brightspace are slightly different depending on which content experience you are using.
Original Content Experience
- Within your course, navigate to Content, add a new module or select an existing module, open the Existing Activities menu and select the Harmonize option
- In the resource selector that appears, click on the Discussion option and select Create New
- Enter a name for the discussion, select the Graded option, enter the appropriate number of points and click the Create Discussion button
New Content Experience (Lessons)
- Within your course, navigate to Content, add a new module or select an existing module and click the Add Existing button
- In the menu that appears, find and select the Harmonize option
- In the resource selector that appears, click on the Discussion option and select Create New
- Enter a name for the discussion, select the Graded option, enter the appropriate number of points and click the Create Discussion button
Moodle
- Within your course, turn on content editing, add a new topic or find an existing topic and click the + Add an activity or resource link
- In the dialog that appears, find and select the Harmonize option
- On the new activity page, click on the Select content button
- In the resource selector that appears, click on the Discussion option and select Create New
- Enter a name for the discussion, select the Graded option, enter the appropriate number of points and click the Create Discussion button
- Click either the Save and return to course button or the Save and display button
